Liz Rundorff at Centre Stage
FROM A PRESS RELEASE OF THE METROPOLITAN ARTS COUNCIL:
Works by Liz Rundorff, an exhibit of paintings by Greenville artist Liz Rundorff, will be on display at Centre Stage – South Carolina (CSSC) from November 16 through December 28, 2007. The opening reception is Friday, November 16 from 6:30 to 9:00 P.M.
The exhibit is part of a collaboration between the Metropolitan Arts Council (MAC) and CSSC in which selected visual artists display their art at the CSSC facility in the Smith Barney Building at 501 River Street, behind the Westin Poinsett. The exhibition opens two weeks prior to the CSSC production of It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, sponsored by the Greenville Hospital System University Media Center and AT&T – The Real Yellow Pages, which runs from November 29 through December 16.
Liz Rundorff received her BA in studio art from the College of Wooster in Wooster, OH where she was the recipient of the College Scholar Award for academic excellence. She also holds an MFA in painting from Edinboro University of PA. A native of Pennsylvania, she moved to Greenville in 2006 to be the Program Director of Artisphere, the International Arts Festival of Greenville.
Rundorff has had solo exhibitions at The College of Wooster in Wooster OH, The Shenango Valley Arts Guild in Sharon PA, The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts in New Castle PA, The Bates Gallery of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in Edinboro PA, The Aiken Center for the Arts in Aiken SC and The Metropolitan Arts Council in Greenville SC.
“Liz Rundorff’s paintings are an excellent addition to the CSSC gallery. They reveal an outstanding understanding of composition and color. Primarily consisting of interiors depicted in oil paint, the exhibit conveys a unique balance between the comforting and the slightly unsettling,” commented MAC Executive Director Alan Ethridge. “These interiors have a somewhat haunting yet intriguing quality, especially in their perspectives.”
The Centre Stage facility at 501 River Street in Greenville is open Tuesday through Friday from 2 to 6 pm and before and after performances.
